I have had bats I my house since I was a child and it seemed this was just a way of life in an old house. Our house was owned by our grandparents and had no insulation in the attic. We Just got used to having bats in our attic and sometimes flying around in the up stairs areas.
We spent our summers with our grandparents and spent our summer nights in the upstairs area of the home and on hot summer nights we spent the nights with the windows open with box fans blazing trying to cut the heat.
Not every night, but every so often we would have deal to with the rouge bat flying around the room near the attic access. We eventually got used to getting a net or shirt and catching the rouge bat and taking it outside and releasing it.
I have since become a wildlife removal or animal control agent with the state and now I spend my days removing wildlife such as bats, snake, raccoon, squirrel, opossum, skunk, flying squirrel and rodents in a pest control and wildlife control professional.
That attic space years later we removed over a ton of bat guano or bat poop, and spent a week sealing and removing the bats that lived there. We lived years just dealing with the bats in the attic and when we finally decided to take care of the bat issue it took a measured amount of work and time, not to mention the cost!
