Marietta, GA Animal Control 678-792-8053

Squirrel Exclusion:
Check soffit(eaves) ,fascia areas and dormer areas. Squirrels typically chew though the fascia and sometimes the gutter system hides the entry. So it is often best to get into the attic space and look for the hole. Make sure there are no lights on so that the sun shining through the opening makes it so much easier to locate the entry or entries. You can always put a ladder up and manually check every area for the openings. Though this takes a lot of time and strain.

Once the opening is determined it is best to place the trap as close to the entry as possible to ensure a better chance of trapping the animal/s the first night to minimize trips to and from the project. It is better to place multiples traps. Better to have to many traps than not enough.

Exclusion should not be attempted until the female squirrel/s are trapped and removed, for they will simply chew through the repair or find another weak point in the structure and chew through.

Squirrels typically start entering eaves, Gable Vents, Turtle vents, roof ventilation vents and attic space to start a nesting area to have their young. So you will need to check the sex of every squirrel you trap, if you have a female that has been nursing, you will need to try and find the young or they could die and cause a terrible odor.

Once you are sure you have removed all the animals, it is time to start the exclusion (repair). Coil Stock or Aluminum flashing is best to use to cover an hole in the fascia. It is best to spray the hole and area with 70% isopropyl Alcohol. This will kill spores and odor causing bacteria that can lead other squirrels to the entry.

Raccoon Exclusion:
You will need to check the total roof line, fascia, gutters and dormers. Run through inspection sheet to cover all aspects.

When in the attic it is the same as with squirrels, once you have determined that the actual raccoon or opossum are not in the space turn out all lights and look for sunlight coming through openings. Place traps close to openings. The best way to determine the difference between opossum and raccoon is that the raccoon will use the restroom in one or two places and an opossum does not control it’s defecation and will defecate everywhere.

If the raccoon is living in the chimney, you will need to place a few traps as close to the chimney as possible. Make sure** to place a mat or a board under the trap** they will tear the roofing tabs if you don’t.

Once you are sure the raccoon are trapped exclusion and feces impacted insulation can be completed. You will want to remove the insulation that has been soiled before sealing up. Please keep in mind that raccoons can carry a round worm that can be fatal to humans, so wear proper equipment!!! Often in the course of the clean up, sometimes an opening that was not seen prior will become obvious.

It is important to wear gloves, long sleeved shirts and pant or overalls, at least a 95 Microbial mask and eye protection. The droppings carry a ringworm that can be deadly to humans.

After the clean up exclusion can be performed.
Opossum Removal:

Need to check the total roof line, fascia, dormers. Run through inspection sheet to cover all aspects.

Once Insulation Removal and installation is complete, Exclusion can be performed.

Rodent Removal:

Follow interior area of inspection sheet. The dropping will help determine whether there are mice or rats or both mice and rats. Rats will feed on the mice that are there. Rats are found in the attic, the wall, the kitchen, basement and bathroom areas. They tend to stay close to walls, so when placing traps or sticky tabs place them against a wall. Make sure that no pets can access the traps or sticky tabs .

Rodent Exclusion:
Check the hvac lines, crawlspace vents, gable vents, mice and rats can fit into very small voids and all must be closed in order to keep the rodents out. This can be a costly venture for the client and a very difficult exclusion. Every inch of the structure must be inspected and excluded. Make sure to trap at the same time you are excluding. This way you can kill and catch any that are stuck inside. Rodents can live in a house that is excluded for a long time due to they have food and water readily available.

Snake Removal:
Snake are usually not the issue. They are a red flag for an issue that is already present. If they are found in the house refer to Rodent Removal for Exclusion practice. Snake removal is the removal of its food stock, namely rodents and lizards.

Repellents such as sweeney’s are a great way to help the client and make an extra sale. These relents work very well dependent on rain fall and wash away. It’s a great way to keep the clients yard reptile free.
